Christmas Eve Wells City Band finally finished their extraordinarily busy 4 week run into Christmas with their traditional fundraising pub crawl around the City of Wells. Highlights of this year’s festive programme were two concerts one at Cedars Hall and the other at Wells Town Hall where the band raised nearly £500 for the I See You Charity for local care homes. The band’s work for care homes didn’t stop there with sing along carol performances for residents at three care homes, a Sunday afternoon carol performance at The Bishops Palace in Wells, an early rise performance and talk at 0930 for the Wells Breakfast Club and perhaps the coldest performance in the bands 183 year history playing carols at Easton in the Mendip Hills Somerset in temperatures as low as -5! The band has a really full and exciting diary of events already in place for 2023 with more staged concerts including among others at Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza supporting international artists Texas and The Lightning Seeds on August 5th, a return to Cedars Hall on Sunday May 14th with special guests Lions 4 Youth Brass from Weston Super Mare and a continuation of their extensive community and charity work.
